Yoga at sunset

Our Yoga class is popular with divers and staff alike! Led by experienced Yoga Instructors , the classes are held at sunset on our upper deck and is designed to help the diver improve breath control and increase lung capacity, as well as relax and meet people.
Check out Yoga Utila on Facebook for further information.

Environmental Talks & trips

As part of our conservation efforts, we hold regular talks in our dive centre to inform and educate fellow divers and everyone interested in the aquatic life. Free of charge and open to everyone, we hope to create awareness and make this world a little better.

Recent topics:

In addition to the talks, we are conducting fish survey dives, coral watch survey dives and snorkel trips as well as Whale Sharking trips. Contact us for more information about upcoming events.

Lionfish Hunting and the Derby

As those of you who have visited the Caribbean lately will know, there is an invasive predator in our midst! The Lionfish!
The first sighting around Utila was back in 2009 and since then they are rapidly spreading in Utila and the Bay Islands. UCME ( Utila Centre for Marine Ecology) are running a Lionfish containment programme around Utila which has involved licensing special Hawiian slings for hunting. These slings are simple tools which are proving very effective in helping to control the Lionfish populations on Utila's dive sites. Deep Blue is supporting this by hunting lionfish continuously. We also take part in Utila's Lionfish Derby.

Day trips to Water Cay

Here at Deep Blue, we love to set time aside for a good party! And our trips to Water Cay, along with our BBQ are always a big hit with our divers. Check out our Facebook page to see photos of what our last party was like... you won't want to miss it!

These give handy tips, ranging from what environmental guidelines to be aware of when you scuba dive in Utila through to advising you which fish is sustainable to eat when you are here. You can also find out about local environmental organisations and what is being done to raise awareness of issues such as over fishing and fisheries management. Deep Blue Divers tries to practise eco friendly scuba diving and encourages its divers to become good ambassadors of the sea by increasing marine education levels and environmental awareness.

Deep Blue loves Whalesharks! They come here at least four times a year. If you are lucky enough to see one when diving with us, you can send your photos of the Whaleshark to ECOCEAN who are making an ID library, follow the link for more info!
